About Dr. Sofia Georgiadou

I am originally from Greece. After obtaining my B.A. in Psychology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, I moved to the US on a Fulbright Scholarship and completed my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy (2009) and my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy (2012), both from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Both my MA and my PhD were COAMFTE-accredited and my MA was CAPREP-accredited as well.

My professional and personal lived experiences as an immigrant in the US have helped me become very attuned to cultural sensitivity issues with my supervisees and clients. I approach these matters in therapy and supervision with the inherent curiosity and empathy of a learner with both privileged and marginalized identities.
